This afternoon, Mason Middle School Principal Lauren Gentene announced she has accepted the position of Indian Hill Middle School Principal.  Superintendent Jonathan Cooper is pleased to announce that a long-time Mason Comet, Jay Reutter, has been selected to serve as the middle school’s interim principal.

“We deeply appreciate Principal Gentene’s leadership in Mason, and are excited to see how she continues to positively impact learners in our region in her new position,” said Dr. Jonathan Cooper, Superintendent. “We are also very grateful to have seasoned leaders in Mason City Schools who are ready to step up to serve in new roles when the opportunity arises. Jay Reutter, a 24-year veteran educator in Mason City Schools, exemplifies those leaders. As a science teacher, coach, and current assistant principal at Mason Middle School, Mr. Reutter has proven his dedication to creating a school community that is about every kid, every day.”

Reutter is committed to Mason Quality, and is thrilled to continue to serve middle school students, staff and families in his new role.

“Since 1998, I have been a part of the Comet Family and have been privileged to work alongside very talented and dedicated educators and principals. When given the opportunity to step into this role and lead the people that I love in a new way, I jumped at it. I cannot wait to meet this year’s Middle School students, and look forward to seeing their growth as we create Mason Moments that celebrate “Every Kid, Every Day!”
