Mason Middle School choir students were able to hear soaring arias and get a glimpse of the dramatic when t
he Cincinnati Opera Express Truck visited Mason Middle School on May 9.

"The truck actually turns into a theater and acts as a very cool form of outreach!" explained MMS Choral Director Holly Schreier.

The Cincinnati Opera performed four short productions for MMS Choral students with each production running about 15 minutes in length.

"The Cincinnati Opera Express truck was a delight for MMS choral students! It was the perfect introduction to the genre of opera," added Schreier. "In the fun and fast-paced performances, we were introduced to the life of an opera artist, from the audition and rehearsal processes through the final production. Students whose lives may have never intersected with this beautiful art form came away with a new understanding and appreciation."

Many MMS choral families have taken advantage of Cincinnati Opera's free invitation to attend the open dress rehearsal of 'La Traviata' on June 12 at Cincinnati Music Hall. It is both a generous invitation and fantastic opportunity for students.

"We are fortunate to have a quality opera company with amazing community outreach.Though this is the third time Cincinnati Opera has provided performances at MMS, it is the first time through the unique experience on the opera truck," added Schreier.
