The Krazy Koconuts was one of 58 teams that attended the State Tournament on February 3 and 4 at Wright State University in Dayton, OH. The Krazy Koconuts won the judges award and was also invited to the National Tournament. The team has been working together for the past nine months outside of school for this program.

First Lego League is an international competition organized by FIRST for elementary and middle school students. FLL challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. During the season, teams will choose and solve a real-world problem in an assigned topic and will also build, test, and program an autonomous robot using Lego Mindstorms technology to solve a set of missions in the robot game.

According to the website, "the mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership."
