WR Fourth Grader wins 2018 Fire Prevention Week Poster ContestWestern Row fourth grader Jimmy Shettigar was recognized as a winner of the 2018 Fire Prevention Week Poster Contest. State Fire Marshal Fire Life Safety Educator Jenni Snyder presented Shettigar with a certificate of recognition on April 2 at Western Row, along with the City of Mason Fire Department representatives.

The State Fire Marshal’s office conducts a statewide fire safety poster contest each year to recognize students in grades K-6 who demonstrate an understanding of the issues related to fire safety education and who have shown the ability to visually portray that knowledge.

Twelve elementary school students throughout Ohio received the special recognition for their entries this spring by the State Fire Marshal’s office. The 2018 contest – which implemented the theme “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere.” – took place during Fire Prevention Week October 7-13.
